Jeff Allen's Newsletter Greetings from Jeff
June 2008

Dear Bill,

Life has been good. I've been enjoying touring the country doing what I do, meeting people like you, and spreading mirth. I am also blessed with the opportunity to share my story when performing in churches.

I am really excited to announce the imminent availability of the DVD My Heart, My Comedy, starring my favorite comedian, me. Many of you have asked to be able to hear more of my personal story - how low I'd fallen, how I found my way out, and how my family coped through the process. This DVD is that. Filmed in front of a live audience, the first part is funny stuff, then my testimony, and then I bring out my wife, Tami, for a real heart-to-heart. This is one intimate roller coaster of a DVD. I know you'll enjoy it.

On an even more personal note, prayers are needed for my wife Tami's dad. As of this writing he is in the ICU in Ohio and not doing too well. He can't seem to shake the infection after his operation. His name is Mike. Thank you.

Thank you for all your support. I will try to be a little more diligent in writing. Please check the website and blogs for more stuff coming over the next few weeks.

God's Blessings to you all, and a happy Father's Day to you, dads.
Jeff

  • Food for Thought

Greetings from my bunker in beautiful downtown Fairview Tennessee, where we are trying to get the mosquito declared an endangered species. I don't know what will kill me first, the mosquito or the nuclear waste we spray in the air to kill them. That's still not good enough for my wife, Tami. She's dropped her gym membership because of all the exercise she is getting swatting the little buzz bombs with her fly swatter.

I know some of you might be thinking, "How much does a fly swatter weigh?" Well, she has had this particular one for three years now, and there is at least four pounds of duct tape holding it together. When she lets that puppy loose, you can hear the "thwack" from the shed I usually nap in when I'm supposed to be looking for the mower.

Tami's pleased because the swatting gets her off the couch. Don't tell anybody, but we're working with Nintendo on a design for the Wii Mosquito Killer. It's great for getting her heart rate up. Plus her right arm is now twice the size of my leg. She tells me next week she'll be working on her two-handed backhand.

Let me preface this by saying, career-wise, everything's been great. I am doing a lot of outreach shows for churches, and in May I was blessed to be introduced to an organization in Detroit called Forgotten Harvest. Briefly, what they do is take the food that the grocery stores and restaurants are about to pitch in the trash and collect it and distribute it to the needy. Amazing organization! They have over 14 refrigerated trucks and move literally tons of food to the needy. I was honored to be the entertainment for their fund raiser dinner. The food was great, if a little overripe, and we all got to take home some dented canned goods.

I have a suggestion about how to solve some of the world's hunger problems. I don't want to give away too much about my unique idea, although I will hint that it has something to do with figuring out how to turn mosquitoes into a high quality food source.

I should also mention that my son, Ryan, has moved away from his parents in Tennessee to Cedar Falls, Iowa. (Iowa?!) We miss him! Hence, we are praying that this fall they have the mother-of-all-winters. This boy has no idea how bad winter can be, having been raised in Arizona and Tennessee. We are hoping that, after the second foot of snow in Cedar Falls, the little ingrate who abandoned his parents returns to his frozen senses and comes back to Tennessee to be near his mom and dad. So we can resume complaining about all of the food he eats. One meal with him and you want to put Forgotten Harvest on speed dial.

New Heartwarming Jeff Allen DVD - My Heart, My Comedy

    Dove Family Approved

Jeff's latest DVD has received the prestigious Dove seal. Here is an excerpt of their review of My Heart, My Comedy available soon from Jeff's online store.

Jeff Allen sends the audience into paroxysms of laughter as he hits on various topics including teenagers, drunks, speeding, and marriage. There is also a personal testimony ... and he and his wife share what they went through and how he eventually became a Christian. While he does give a serious testimony at the end, there are a lot of laughs in this set. We gladly award our Dove Seal to this DVD set.
